How to gain confidence
Having self-esteem and confidence in ourselves is much different than knowing how to gain confidence around others. Self-esteem refers to self acceptance and the values we place on ourselves. Self-confidence is being secure in yourself and your abilities.
Confidence on the other hand, tends to be determined by what others think of us. We look for evidence that we can do something by relating to past achievements. If we have no knowledge or experience in a certain topic, we tend to feel unsure and nerves kick in.
Solely relying on confidence is an issue, because what do you do when you have no evidence to draw upon? If you believe you can only do things you’ve accomplished before, how do you expect to get results in your future? This is where you must rely on your self esteem.
Way ways to gain self confidence
Positive self talk you know the saying "you are what you eat"? This also relates to your thoughts. Whatever you feed your mind, you will become. Feed your mind knowledge, positivity, and gratitude. You will see areas in your life radiate. Read books, take a class, talk with somebody already on the level you would like to reach. Tell yourself that you are smart, worthy, capable of meeting your goals. You have much to offer and you can do whatever you set your mind to.
Stop comparing yourself to others. One of our biggest mistakes is comparing ourselves to who we see all over social media. Don't get me wrong, to follow people that inspire you is wonderful. But to follow people that make you feel inferior only sets you back and tells your mind that you are not enough. Social media only shows the end result, but how much work and dedication went into all that success is the real question. Great results come with hard work and discipline.
Get outside your comfort zone. This is a big one. If you want to know how to gain confidence, you need to make the uncomfortable, comfortable. Go to that busy coffee shop, have lunch by yourself, walk through busy areas, go to a new shopping center. Go and buy that outfit you absolutely love, but are afraid to go out in, and get used to seeing yourself in it. Start by wearing it at home and being aware how great you feel. Little steps equal big results, so dare yourself to get moving.
Have a confidence bubble
Surround yourself with positive people. Do you spend time with people supporting your goals or hurting them? Not everyone is going to understand your drive and desire to level up. Although that is okay, make sure the majority of your time is spent with positive influence and feedback. Join groups of the like-minded people.
When you worry about people not agreeing with you, here is quote I like to reference. Timothy Leary said:
You can’t talk butterfly language to a caterpillar
People have their own opinions and beliefs, and not everyone will understand your direction. Leave the caterpillars alone, one day they will grow there own wings.
Add meaning and bring confidence to your day
Check your posture when you walk into a room, what message are you sending out?
Speak confidently your emotions show the way you speak. Staying in a positive mood will allow you to speak more clearly and with assurance. Pay attention to your tone of voice and the language you use.
Study up if you’re going to event that you are not used to, or have unsure knowledge about, look it up. This way you have something to show interest and engage in conversation with.
Look for the purpose the why this is how you gain confidence through your pleasures and daily routine routines. Whether at home, office, or elsewhere, bring meaning to your day. Focusing on your why will keep a joy in the journey.
Keep a note of all the milestones you’ve reached. With your goals in mind, remind yourself of how much you’ve overcome and grown as a person. It may surprise you when you realize your strengths and how far you have come so far.
Motivation comes from the energy and vibes in your body. A sense of accomplishment will raise your energy and set into motion a sense of excitement to everything you do. So you can work on what you love!
Confidence comes with practice and you’re worth every bit of effort you give to it. Give yourself a chance to be the best!
