It’s good to change
I’ve heard many people talk about change like it’s bad, but it’s good to change!
Who were you last year? How about five years ago, 10 years? What were you like as a child? If we never changed I think it’s fair to say we’d be stuck in a boring loop.
With each passing year, we gather more knowledge. Experiences throughout our lifetime change us. Some are messy, some are hard, others are amazing, but they all count for who we become.
Get past limiting beliefs
From a young age, we are conditioned to believe what we are regularly told. Go to school, graduate, go to college, get a job till we retire and that’s it.
If you have encouraging parents who support you and your goals, no matter how big or different from their own expectations, you are blessed.
However, that’s a lot of time that we are discouraged by those closest to us. Our dreams get shut down because society has taught us that a 9-5 job is right path. They say things like “be realistic” when you share your dream .
Yet, it is when we chase our dreams that amazing things are created. Music, art, inventions, and careers that we have passion for.
Being told that our dreams are too big comes a limiting belief we carry with us for years to go by. That’s when it’s good to change. That’s when we need to change.
So how do we start? How can we reprogram
Change your thinking
Having a fixed mindset means we stand by what we’ve always believed and things don’t change. Although much of what we learn may be helpful to carry into our future, there are things that need to be reevaluated and adjusted. Improve yourself by developing a growth mindset.
Things could be misinterpreted when we’re young and become clear as we develop.
Think back to being a child. Who in your life looked big and intimidating simply for the fact you were so small?
Or those drivers drives that took forever as a child, that you now realize are just a short distance.
In a sense this is how limiting beliefs work. Once you start believing something it is easy to just keep believing.
Our values and believes influence many choices we make. Take the time to evaluate and make sure you are working hard for a future that is good for you.
Let go of mistakes
Your past does not define you, it has simply brought you to this point in time.
What you do today is what matters. What you can change? Who you are, how you dress, what you like, where you work, what you value, only you know who you are. You can decide to take a new turn in any part of your life at any given moment.
Search Google and you will find countless success stories people who have served years in jail and still became famous actors. NASCAR drivers or professional criminal justice, people who were abused for years and still found the strength and success for their lives. There are endless stories such as these.
If they can turn their lives around in that extreme context, I know you can overcome any parts of your past and make a life you’re proud of.
Change is good. It allows personal growth and opens our mindset to new possibilities. Ask yourself questions. Meet new people. See where life brings you and embrace change. Start building your true potential to its fullest.
